Fourth lesson!

Today lesson was rather interesting because i get to know 2 new search facilities ; Meta Crawler and Subject directory. We were tasked to find out the difference between this two, their PROS and CONS and which one is a better search engine.


so lets start with Metacrawler



I search for impact of peer pressure on youth behaviour

The results were from 5 different engines, meaning they pick up the most relevant information that they collected from the 5 different search engines. Therefore, I feel that Metacrawler complies information from the search engines itself instead from the websites.


Lets take a look at the subject directory, Yahoo




I think the subject directory gives very limited results and I feel that somehow it has got totally no link with what i am searching for.

However, there are some more popular categories at the side which you can browse on, this makes searching for information easier and faster.

So in conclusion, i find Metacrawler a better search facility compared to Subject Directory, yahoo. The reason being that MetaCrawler has more relavant information and it only has 3 pages for me to browse through. I do not like the subject directory as the results often produce irrelavant results which i do not want.
